If you have a page made on WordPress, it won’t be long before you hear someone asking you, and then how is your SEO ON PAGE , is it optimized!?
You may still be unsure what On page Seo is and what it’s all about, but don’t worry we’ll explain everything important in this article and I’ll leave links to important supplementary content.
When we talk about SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ), we are referring to different optimization techniques to get visits through search engines like Google , Yahoo and Bing which are the most popular at the moment.
The problem is that there is not only one type of SEO, we have to worry about doing SEO on page and off page for our projects. In this article I will explain what is on page SEO and its difference from Off page , I will also explain the reasons why you should always start working on the on page part of your project.
What is it for and main factors about “ SEO on Page ” optimization ?
The purpose of SEO On Page is “to make life easier for Google ”, so it can index your pages as quickly as possible… and rank them according to your interest.
To understand better we could say that, using On-Page SEO, you will try to explain “politely to Google” what the purpose of your page is.
And, please understand, when I say “politely”, I mean that if you go overboard Google will no longer be your friend, because you will be over-optimized, it will find you boring… maybe consider you dedicated to “ spam” people, doing Keyword Stuffing and does not bring anything of value to the user.
So for your project to work, before doing any off page SEO process , it is necessary that you make Google understand your site and the content you are offering through a correct onpage optimization . To optimize your website you need to follow some essential practices, read on and we’ll talk about each process below.
How does Google find and index your pages?
In order for your page to appear in search results, Google’s robots must find and rank it. These “robots” ( or “bots” ) are computer programs that read, extract and archive the content of each page of a website.
Your mission is to browse the Internet, following all the links you can find, in order to find new pages, and re-visit those that are already indexed to see if they have been updated with new content .
When a bot arrives at your page, it indexes all the content (text, images, links, code…) and stores it all in a gigantic database. Later, this information will be analyzed to determine the niche your site belongs to, and the relevance you have within it.
But…
If the crawling robots can’t find your page, or can’t index it, your website won’t show up in Google’s results . That’s why you should do everything possible for these bots to find and understand your page easily and efficiently.
The first thing is to do a keyword study ( Keyword Research )
Doing a keyword study is the first on-page SEO technique you should learn. Using an analogy, keywords in SEO are like air to living beings, without it we cannot exist, like SEO, without Keywords neither could we.
Search engines feed on keywords or “ search terms ”. Therefore, we have to choose the ones that we think are best for our site.
The main words of a project are usually the ones that have the highest search volume, we must structure and attack these words on the home page ( start page ), along with other words equally important to the project.
It’s important to have a start page to create an effective structure in SILO … but that’s another story… that’s let’s say a little more advanced and we’ve covered it in depth in my seo course !
At the moment we must focus on the keywords that best define our products, services or information we are writing.
We should also extract words that have the least organic competition ( usually the least searchable words ) to create inbound articles to drive faster traffic to our site . These words are also known as “ Longtails ” because they are less searchable phrases and are usually longer…
We should think about how people would search for our services, products or information and start looking for those terms in keyword search tools .
The tools will give you back many word ideas related to the ones you have entered, from then on you should start mining and separating the best ones.

The goal is for you to create a good word list that defines all of your products, services or the topic you plan to cover in your next article.
I leave a recommendation : when you have the keywords in your excel, imagine and design the structure of your website with its different sections (pages or categories). This way you will have a broader view of the project and will know how to improve it. You should use secondary words in a degree of importance to categorize your web. You should concentrate a group of similar words in each section of your website!”

How to use keywords ( Keywords ) in SEO on Page
Your target keywords should appear in the content ( this is more than proven ) to help Google understand the subject of your pages.
👉 But they should appear as natural as possible .
Sure you’ve read an article where the keyword repeats, repeats and repeats!
Don’t do this .
It’s perfectly possible to position a page “ abusing ” the Keywords, but it’s not a long-term strategy, and for your readers and customers it won’t be pleasant.
Advice for using your Keywords in SEO On Page
Never over-optimize a page with your keywords. Google will notice sooner or later. It gets faster and faster and hates it, it sanctions you!
Learn to use synonyms and terms related to your keywords, this way you’ll avoid repeating the exact words too much, as well as facilitating indexing for many other words that can drive traffic to your site and generate money.
Don’t pay too much attention to “keyword density” , there is no magic formula that says how often or how often to use keywords. Just write to the user naturally.
Now that you have your list in hand you should start creating quality content . But you need to know how to structure the topics you will deal with on the page in question, based on the keywords found in your Keyword Research ( term used in English for the study of keywords ).
How should I structure my content using H1, H2, H3 tags?
Structuring the content you are producing from the words selected in the keyword study is important to providing a great user experience so that they can better understand what you want to convey in your article.

Basically to rank your content by topic relevance within a WordPress page you should use H1 , H2 , H3 tags … This structuring is one of the most important parts of onpage SEO.
Header tags have some influence when it comes to ranking on Google in the year 2018 . If you’re a designer and don’t know what you’re doing in terms of SEO optimization and content structuring, if you want to solve this, simply use an “H1” tag as the first title of each page, ( in WordPress just put the title in the editor which already takes as H1 ).
Use “H2” text headers for all remaining project titles . It’s not ideal… but it’s less bad that way!
Naturally write each subhead using the corresponding keywords on the topic that will be addressed in the topic/content cluster . Do not repeat keywords in titles, bet on semantics!
The H1 tag
The h1 tag is one of the most important among the 200+ SEO factors , as it helps Google understand which is the most important term in your article, in which the article is “focused”. There must be only one label for each entry or page.
The h1 must contain keywords ( keywords in English ) that help to position the article, taking into account what people are looking for. The titles you choose for your posts are actually h1.

You should verify that your articles have a unique h1 . From the article to be analyzed, click with the right mouse button and “View source code” . Then “Ctr + F “ and look for “

The subtitles ( This is a h2 )
The h2 are the subtitles . They are perfect for ranking content and give Google a little more information. They must contain synonyms and words related to the main topic of the post (secondary words that you want to attack) . They can also be used as an introduction.
You can check for example how many h2 the competition has to apply in your project using the previous technique ( right mouse button and “See source code ).
More subtitles ( This is an h3 )
The h3 h2 are within the subtitles . They are added in the same way as h2 in the WP editor and should focus on the content of h2.
The h3 content should contain other keyword variations related to the subject covered in the article increasing overall relevancy thanks to semantic SEO. The following is an example:

It may seem a bit complicated at first , but soon you get practice and you’ll start creating coherent, easy-to-read articles.
As a tip, I recommend using the free Table of Contents Plus plugin , which adds an index to your long articles and lets you get a good look at how your content is structuring right on the page.
The tags h1, h2, h3 (reach up to h6), but the important thing is to use at least up to H3. The correct use and hierarchy of each theme will make your articles climb positions in Google’s SERPs, increasing your traffic and consequently your earnings $$ .
Try to make your content broad enough to address the reader’s needs on the subject without having to go to other pages to look for more information.
In case it is necessary to complement the information, check that the internal links that you are going to place actually take the user to a quality and relevant page, preferably an internal page or a website that you own.

Know the tags visible in the search results – Title , URL and Meta Description
Let’s first look at the tags that are displayed directly in the SERP results: Title , URL and Meta Description . When you do a Google search it always returns results with some specific tags like the one below:
I mean that usually Google shows this format, but depending on the type of search or the experiments Google decides to perform the results can vary by format…
The title that appears in the results of Google… ( Tag title )
This title is different from H1, H1 is the title you will put on your articles in the WordPress text editor.
In the serps title the ideal is to configure so that Google takes the title of your site that you must specify when configuring your wordpress in settings/general , and join with the title h1 of each article to show the user.
You can put whatever title you want to appear on your pages and articles in the search results, regardless of the title you use to optimize your article’s H1 and your blog’s title. In the course of the article we will see how we can easily configure.
First let’s better understand the title tag and how important it is for SEO optimization .
The title tag is an HTML element that specifies the title of a web page . Title tags are displayed on search engine results pages so that you can click through to a particular result.

The title tag also shows itself at the top of the browser and acts as a placeholder, especially for people who have a lot of browser tabs open.
Unique, easily recognizable titles with important keywords close up front help ensure that people don’t lose sight of your content.
What is the ideal length for a title in serps ?
Google usually shows the first 50 – 60 characters of a title tag. If you keep your titles under 60 characters, you can expect about 90% of your titles to display correctly.
There is no exact character limit, as characters can vary in width and Google titles are displayed at maximum ( at the moment ) at 600 pixels.
Why is optimizing the title tag important for social media ?

We already know that title tags are a very important part of search engine optimization as well as user experience , writing effectively is an excellent low-effort, high-impact SEO solution. The following are essential recommendations for optimizing title tags for search engines:
Keep in mind that longer titles may work better for sharing something on social media in some cases, and some titles are naturally long. But you should pay attention to how the titles appear in the SERP , as Google cuts the titles too long and complements with [ … ].
Search for your word and put yourself in the user’s shoes to determine if your title is okay as it is. Create unique titles Unique titles help search engines understand that your content is unique and valuable, and also lead to higher click-through rates. If you think of hundreds or thousands of pages, it may seem impossible to create a unique title for each page, but modern CMS should at least allow you to create unique data-based titles for almost every important page on your site.
Always try to use the focus keyword of each article or page at the beginning of the titles . You can of course include synonyms and it’s nice to bet on it.
Why can Google not use my title in SERPs?
Sometimes Google may display a title that doesn’t match the title tag you specified. This can be frustrating, but there’s no easy way to force them to use the title you’ve set. When that happens, there are four likely explanations…
➡ Your title was considered Keyword Stuffing : As I mentioned earlier, if you put too many keywords in the title, you fall into over-optimization, Google may choose to simply rewrite your title because of that.
➡ Title Does Not Match Query: If the page title tag matches a search query that is not well represented, Google may choose to rewrite the title. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing – no title will match every search imaginable – but if your title is being voided for high volume and desirable searches, then consider rewriting it to better match the keywords you have. is attacking.
➡ Alternate titles : In some cases, if you include alternate title data, such as meta tags for Facebook or Twitter ( Open Graph ), Google may choose to use those titles instead. Again, this is not necessarily a bad thing, but if it creates an undesirable display title, you may want to rewrite the alternate title data.

Why use and how to create friendly URL ?
Let’s say you want to buy a new computer and you’ve done an internet search to see what the best deals are available.
This is the url direction of the product that is in the first store you found:
“www.example.com/B001G5ZTLS/ref=sr_1_5?s=foto&ie=UTF8&qid=1365525726&sr=1-5”
The direction of the second is this:
“www.example.com/computador/apple/mac/”
Which one would you be able to remember? The one that includes indecipherable parameters, or the one that is written in our language? I think I already know the answer…
The first is known as a dynamic URL , and is a type of URL designed to be controlled by machines. The second is more suitable for people, and it is no coincidence that search engines prefer it that way.
It’s affordable. It’s short. It’s easy to remember. Hence it is called, friendly URL .
When you write the title of the article in the WP text editor it already takes this title and transforms it into the URL. However you can easily change the url to make it as consistent as possible.
If you are trying to create a structure in SILO this issue of structuring the URLS and the coherence of how they are applied is even more important… Since the urls must show the silo you created in a visual way for the user and hierarchically categorized also for the search engines.

But if you are starting now I recommend that you choose to use a permanent link structure by name in your WordPress, so you only need to worry about creating friendly URLs for your articles, this structure is simpler.
For example you have an article that talks about goat cheese if that’s a page it will look like this:
casadocheijo.com/goat’s cheese
To configure permanent links by name you should go to settings / permanent links in WordPress.
Soon you will enter the session that I show in the photo below and must select the structure by name, then click on save changes and all right!
Notice the highlighted element in the photo, this is how your urls will look in the format by name. The articles will have the category prefix. But it is possible to take it off, it just depends on how you configure the Yoast plugin which is the most recommended to help you in your on-page optimization.
Soon we’ll talk about it, now let’s talk about the meta descriptions that together with the title and url make up the results shown on Google about a particular site.
What is and what is the Meta Description tag for ?
Users view your META description, as the summary of your page, so you should strive to make it attractive and invite them to visit.
Like the Title Tag, the Meta tag is not shown in the browser’s “visible” content, but in the search results below the title.
You can see this tag by looking for “meta name=” in the HTML code:
Although there is some controversy on this topic I think this tag is not essential to position a page, and that Google doesn’t take much into account for placement, and considers it only as a suggestion.
Because sometimes Google ignores your Meta description and shows part of the text that exists on your page in the results, when it thinks it might be more suitable for the visitor. 😉
That is, Google uses your meta description as a suggestion , not an order.
Write the Meta description of your pages as if it were an ad that should catch the user’s attention , arouse their real interest to click on your ad and go to your site.
Advice to optimize your goal Description
Write realistic descriptions that summarize what the person actually encounters when they arrive at your page.
If Google decides not to show your description, change it based on what Google chose and try to force indexing.
If your description is attractive enough ( no SPAM, please ), you can get the click, before other better positioned results, but with less attractive descriptions. Include a call to action ( CTA ) to motivate the user.
Also include your keywords , but in a natural way, to reinforce your message. Your meta description itself is not a placement factor, but as Google displays in bold the expressions that the user searched for, and this helps to get more clicks.
The maximum desktop length is plus or minus 155 characters, but if you focus on mobile searches keep in mind that in this case the maximum length is plus or minus 100 characters. If you exceed the number of characters allowed, Google will display “( … )” just like the Title, and this can hurt you.
Don’t duplicate your Meta descriptions , use a different one for each of your pages.
Nowadays don’t focus so much on controlling the number of characters, as Google is doing a lot of testing and changing this factor all the time! Use the %%excerpt%% option in Yoast , so Google will take the beginning of your texts as meta descriptions, create your text with that in mind and forget about it…
Well so far you already have very important bases to optimize your SEO Onpage , but there are still some actions to be done if your site is fully optimized to have a good performance in serps.

Create the sitemap in WordPress and send it to Google
Once you have your content created and structured, your titles, urls and meta descriptions properly optimized you need to create and submit a sitemap to Google.
Thanks to the Yoast plugin once installed it automatically creates a sitemap for your site. It also creates a default route to your sitemap url as you can see in the image below:
The purpose of Sitemap is to improve the indexing of your site , it serves to show search engines which urls and categories we have and facilitate tracking. Also, when you update certain URLs, search engines will also be warned.
Right after the Yoast plugin is installed you should send the sitemap to Google .
Optimization of images and multimedia content
All images on your site must be original or licensed for use. Copying images from other sites, in addition to harming your site’s performance, can lead to denunciations and your content may be removed.

Either way you must put images in your articles and each of those images must contain the ALT attribute . The Alt attribute is a tag that we put on images through wordpress so that Google can understand what this image is when “ crawling ” your site. Google does not see images .
In terms of benefits of On page optimization for wordpress, putting related keywords ( synonyms ) as alt tag in the photos is an excellent way to help the semantic breadth and increase the relevance of our article.
